I have tried at least a hundred different diets since I was about 12. Yes, I have been overweight my entire life and desperate to find a solution. The South Beach Diet has helped me lose almost 60 pounds and I’m still going strong! Of course it has helped that I decided I needed to add exercise to the mix as well.

When I finally accepted the fact that I was fat because I ate way too much of all the bad stuff and the only way to actually lose weight for good was to change my eating pattern, I knew I was finally on the right track.

The South Beach Weight Loss Program is a very sensible approach to food. Eat the right foods in moderation – thats it! The South Beach Diet Book has over 5 million copies in print today and the South Beach Online Diet has well over 600,000 active subscribers. This is the most talked about weight loss program because it works. South Beach Diet is broken down into three phases.

South Beach Diet Phase 1 – Dr Agatston, the creator of this weight loss plan, explains that the body will lose its insulin resistance, and begin to use excess body fat, causing many dieters to lose between 8 and 13 pounds during this 2 week phase. During this phase, you choose from a list of acceptable Phase 1 Foods and eat normal-size helpings that include meat, fish, vegetables, eggs, cheese, and nuts. No fruit in this phase.

South Beach Diet Phase 2 – The Phase 2 Foods List is expanded to include Whole grain foods, fruits and dairy products that are gradually returned to the diet with a big emphasis on portion control, and with a continued emphasis on foods with a low glycemic index.

South Beach Diet Phase 3 – This is the last phase of the program after you have lost all of your weight and reached your goal. This is where you will learn how to maintain your weight loss for good.

I have a long way to go yet, but my hope is to help others lose weight by sharing my story. I joined the South Beach Online Program to get all the details to lose weight.
